The question of how they are paying for a hospitalization is one I'll try to ask my patients to help determine need and how we can keep people from abject poverty.Christo & Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13946244179622909361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4522533979274351092.post-41173182743595119252013-05-18T16:57:04.816+05:302013-05-18T16:57:04.816+05:30Kudos to you!! It is ...Tears welled up my eyes reading about this!
It is touching but true.
You are right about treating the patients and also better healthcare system is a must! Universal health coverage should be implemented.

You all are doing great work!KISLAYA GOPALhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09647106515193706602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4522533979274351092.post-26040948977648676652013-05-17T22:43:45.679+05:302013-05-17T22:43:45.679+05:30Thanks, Jeevan. Superb post, as usual.
Many time...Thanks, Jeevan. Superb post, as usual.

Many times, the poorest people just seem to pay their bills without questions, and without asking for concessions. However, I had a couple of patients at Herbertpur who had sold themselves and their families into bonded labour in order to pay the hospital bills.

On the other hand, many times it is the middle class people who bargain and negotiate in the hope of a better deal.

Which of us wouldn't try to do the same....

The art of helping the poorest is something we really need to keep learning and relearning if we are to be good stewards of the resources we have been given.

I also have started asking some of my patients (even in Vellore) about how they have arranged money to pay for their hospitalisation.Pradeephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07696126197283766968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4522533979274351092.post-1461866269893140522013-05-17T22:23:18.158+05:302013-05-17T22:23:18.158+05:30Oh! I don't know what to say. And it's won...Oh! I don't know what to say. And it's wonderful on your part to ask for patient's paying capability from now on. Some people do need help.
