Open spaces, Ranchi Zoo

One good thing about the Ranchi zoo was the spaces for walking. It was not too far like the Delhi zoo nor too congested. Snaps of the serene paths . . .

Monkeys. In India, I wonder why there are kept in the zoo. We get to see quite a lot of them in the open.

A board saying that there is a lioness there whose upkeep was sponsored by Ms. Priyanka Chopra, the Bollywood actress. The period of sponsorship is already over. So, I wonder if the lioness is still inside.

As soon as we got into the zoo, we had the shock of a very poorly kept parakeet cage. However, things turned out to be better as we went on.

The Boat Ride, Ranchi Zoo

The boat ride we never had . . .

We were horrified to find that there were no life-jackets being used in the boats. There were some jackets hanging on the boat jetty. 

We were horrified to hear the news of a boat tragedy in Ranchi the very next day.

Of course, there was a request to wear life vests while boating.

I hope the Zoo authorities will take note and make wearing of life-vests compulsory.

Family time, Ranchi Zoo . . .

Last weekend, we were off for a break to Ranchi. 

There's nothing much to visit in Ranchi. There was the zoo, where the children were always quite wanting to go. There are lots of snaps.
