Monsoon arrives in Barwadih

Monsoon rains have always been welcome relief. It's a photographer's delight. Whether it was NJH or Kachhwa, there were quite a many snaps.

In Barwadih, we had been quite busy. Still, got the time to take few snaps of the rains.

We thank the Lord for the rains. I hope the water table improves.

The Monsoon arrives

The monsoon arrived at Kachhwa yesterday. Of course, it was a welcome relief from the heat . . . However, it caused quite a lot of damage, including the cancellation of the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi's visit to Varanasi . . .

As usual, it was quite pleasant inside the campus. Snaps of our home and the inundated garden . . .

Joy in a puddle

During our childhood, one of the most enjoyable moments was the time when it rained and there were puddles all over the place. We used to play in the dirt and make paper boats and float them in these puddles. It was not difficult to identify with the dirty boy in those detergent advertisements.

Our children never had this opportunity. First of all, there was no opportunity in a place like NJH as there were hardly any rains and no place for puddles to form. That was till last week . . .

It was quite a pleasant surprise that we found a puddle in front of our home. The truck which came to bore a well had made a huge ditch after one of the tyres got stuck in the mud. It rained the whole night yesterday and therefore the water had collected in this small ditch.

Enough water for us to make couple of boats and put it to sail.

After about half an hour, I had to pull out all the three kids from the fun.

The next day, I found all three of them going and checking out the ditch for water. Unfortunately, it was empty and it has not rained since.

Photo Post . . . 6th August, 2013

Miscellaneous snaps from NJH .. .. ..

Our new boundary wall coming up. The moment we all feel like little 'Nehemiahs'

Lemon tea . . . in Asansol

An electric burn caused on touching a live wire. The burn was so bad that we could see the burnt bone.

We continue to wait for rains. It's become quite a common sight to see rain laden clouds passing over NJH.

Rains . . . Still waiting . . .

We had some amount of rains over the last week. However, it has not been enough to get our water table up. The clouds have been playing hide and seek with us for quite a long time.

Few snaps which he got over the last few days . . .

Please pray that we would get good rains over the next 2 weeks . . .

Alarm Bells

Today, there was a news item in the local daily about a decrease in the monsoon rains in the state over the last 2 weeks. It seems that there's enough alarm bells ringing about a chance of a poor monsoon.

This could spell disaster for the place. We had some heavy rains over the in the early part of June.

Now, we see clouds go over our skies. It looks as if it's going to rain and then the next thing we notice is a clear sky.

I snapped this photograph while on a visit to the village. You can see the heavy clouds, but there was no rains.

Kindly pray that the Lord will bless us with enough rains over the next 2 weeks.

Monsoon, from Neyyar Dam

After the ride to the Shankhumugham beach and the Veli Tourist Village yesterday, today, we went on a ride towards the east of Trivandrum City. First, we reached the Aruvikkara Dam. However, it was raining heavily. So, we decided to go further to Neyyar Dam and see the Aruvikkara Dam on the return journey.

Neyyar Dam was no different. It was just raining heavily.

However, I got to get few snaps of the Neyyar Dam. The scenery looks quite dull and depressing with the on and showers and the cloudy sky.

But, we were in for a surprise as we had clear skies for about an hour after lunch. And the kids had their first boat ride. That would be in the next post.

We praise God that it has been raining quite a lot since the last 4 days . . . Most of you know NJH as a dry place . . . So, below are the snaps with the rains . . .
